Tarek Tawfik president of AmCham in Egypt until 2019

The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Cairo concluded its elections by acclamation for the 2017-2019 sessions with the victory of engineer Tarek Tawfik, head of the Egyptian Federation of Industries, replacing Anis Aclimandos.

Tawfik will take over the chairmanship of the chamber on 21 May, as he ran for office unopposed on Saturday. At the same time, David Chi, regional vice president and Apache Egypt general manager, won by acclamation the deputy chairmanship of AmCham from the US side. The deputy chairmanship on the Egyptian side was awarded to Ahmed Abou Ali.

Representative of ASCOM, Alaa El Din Afifi, became the head treasurer. The new board also includes Tareh Mohanna for legal affairs, Khaled Abubakar for programmes affairs, and Dalia Wehbe as vice president of the Chamber for Membership Affairs, as well as Girgis Abdul Shaheed, Hossam Al Dandarawi, and Seif El-Din Al-Sadiq.

The new board will begin their 2017/2019 session by appointing two more members.
