“I will present a statement of account in January and February about Egypt under my rule,” President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi said during his meeting with editors-in-chief of state-owned newspapers, on Tuesday.
Al-Sisi said that protectionist measures were taken for the benefit of the middle class and the low-income families, and the government will duplicate the subsidy and free taxing.
The president expressed his rejection of the phrase “everything is ok” and said, however, that citizens may complain of the costliness, but they know that the responsibility requires exerting more efforts.
He called upon Egyptians to depend on the cheap products of greenhouses, and he expressed his trust in the Prime Minister, Sherif Ismail, who Al-Sisi described as able to lead the government effectively despite the problems, and that he [Al-Sisi] follows up on the minister’s work daily.
Al-Sisi explained that he will hold a conference by the end of June to announce the results of his efforts for restoring the lands of the nation. Also, he pointed out that the emergency law will be applied firmly to face those who stole the lands.
Al-Sisi defended his decision of floating the local currency and described the decision as inevitable. The president said that the stage of establishing the state will take four years, and a new city will be established in Al-Alameen to be a summer base for the government.
Regarding efforts to counter terrorism, the president praised the role of the armed forces in this regard.
“Citizens will wonder soon when we pass this phase,” Al-Sisi added. He also said that the new projects cost EGP 200 billion annually, and a third of this cost goes to cover wages of almost three million workers.
