Michael Schmermer appointed new managing director for Siemens Healthineers, Egypt

Siemens Healthineers has announced the appointment of Michael Schmermer as new managing director for the company’s operations in Egypt, effective 9 March.

Based in Cairo, the new managing director will continue to drive Siemens Healthineers’ growth strategy and expand the company’s local footprint, according to a press statement issued on Tuseday.

Schmermer takes over the responsibility from Mohamed El-Wetidy “who played a great role leading succees of the company in his 32 years of service,” the statement read.

The statement added that Schmermer started his career with Siemens’ healthcare business in 1983. Over the years, Schmermer has led many projects and teams and held several leadership positions in the company in Germany, South Korea, China, Malaysia, and Russia.

Michael Schmermer mentioned said: “Egypt is an important market for Siemens Healthineers.”

Schmermer continued, “I am delighted to be in Egypt at such an exciting time, and I look forward to actively participating in the country’s sustainable growth. We have a long history in Egypt, being present in the country for more than 110 years; we are fully committed to providing quality healthcare to the people of Egypt at reduced costs. Our aim lies at improving medical facilities, developing local talent and addressing the future needs of the country.”

“With its new identity which embodies the company’s pioneering spirit and engineering expertise, Siemens Healthineers applies its unique skills to respond to clinical, operational, and financial challenges that healthcare providers face today,” the statement noted.
