Egypt’s Minster of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry gave a speech during the “Rhodes Conference for Security and Stability”  that was attended by a number of foreign affairs ministers from the Mediterranean region.

The two-day conference aims at discussing common challenges for the Mediterranean region.

Shoukry began his speech expressing his appreciation for the initiative, taking place for the second time, noting that it constitutes a new and important framework for the countries of the Mediterranean and Arab regions to exchange views and perspectives on the most important common challenges.

Shoukry focused on presenting the Egyptian proposal to deal with the crises of the region, especially terrorism.

The minister also discussed education, culture, and arts, confirming that Egypt is actively participating in these activities, especially as this was agreed upon during the conference last year.

The minister announced an initiative of Cairo University to join a network of universities from member states of the conference, in order to facilitate relations between the youth of the region in an institutionalised way.
