The State Grid Corporation of China has completed the implementation of Borollos-Itay El Baroud electricity lines on Thursday, extending over 105 kilometres.

According to sources at the Ministry of Electricity, the Chinese company has established 273 electricity towers to transfer the production from West Borollos to Itay El Baroud. The company hired 300 Chinese workers and engineers to complete the implementation, especially as it works on a number of other projects in Beni Suef, Abu Al-Matamir, and others.

The Ministry of Electricity seeks to strengthen the electricity network through three lines, the first between the Suez power station and the Maghagha and East Assiut. The second line includes the provision of power for the New Administrative Capital through six electric circuits distributed over the stations of Maghagha, Zahraa Maadi, Ain Sokhna, and Abou Zaabal.

The third line includes the west of the Borollos area through to the Abu-Matamir, Itay El Baroud, and Samannoud power plants. The ministry is set to complete the implementation of parallel electrical lines of 800 kilometres by September.

A 500 kV line is under construction to connect the Beni Suef power plant to Naga Hammadi with a length of 426 km, which will be parallel to the current line established with the construction of the High Dam in the 1960s, the sources said.

The sources added that the list of companies implementing the parallel electrical network includes Elsewedy Electric and the National Contracting Company (NCC). The total cost of the project is estimated at EGP 4bn, after reducing the contract value through negotiations with the two companies.
