16.3% increase in public sector’s construction operation value in 2015/16

The total value of the implemented operations by public/public business sector companies amounted to EGP 23.9bn in 2015/16, up from EGP 20.6bn in 2014/15, marking an increase of 16.3%, according to a report by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on the annual statistical bulletin of building and construction for public/public business sector companies in 2015/16.

The report added that the total value of implemented residential buildings reached EGP 2.5bn in 2015/16, versus EGP 2.4bn in 2014/15, an increase of 5.7%.

The total value of health sector buildings reached EGP 302m in 2015/16 versus EGP 306m in 2014/15, a decrease of 1.2%.

Moreover, the total value of educational buildings reached EGP 533m in 2015/16 versus EGP 389m in 2014/15, an increase of 37.3%.

The total value of roads, bridges, and tunnels reached EGP 8.7bn in 2015/16 versus EGP 7.8bn in 2014/15, an increase of 12.4%.

The total value of water stations and networks reached EGP 3.3bn in 2015/16, versus EGP 2.9bn in 2014/15, an increase of 14.2%.

Finally, the total value of implemented sewage plants and sewer systems reached EGP 4.9bn in 2015/16 versus EGP 3.6bn in 2014/15, an increase of 34.9%.
