According to the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), Egypt’s trade with the world has reached around $59.035bn during the period between July 2016 and March 2017.
A recent report by the CBE showed that the volume of Egypt’s imports from the world during that period amounted to about $43.04bn, while the volume of exports reached $15.99 bn.
The trade between Egypt and 14 other countries—whom are considered its most important trade partners—has reached $34.65bn, according to the CBE.
In addition to that, Egyptian exports have reached $10.1bn, while the imports from these countries reached $24.5bn during nine months.
Meanwhile, according to the report, the UAE ranked first in terms of the most important trading partner with Egypt, where the volume of trade with the Emirates during the 9-month period stood at $4.5bn, of which $2.24bn are imports, and $2.28bn in exports.
Nevertheless, the second rank was for the USA, where the volume of trade reached $3.35bn, of which $2.27bn was imports and $1.257bn in exports.
China ranked third, with a trade exchange with Egypt of $3.35bn, of which $3.28bn was in Egyptian imports, and $70.7m worth of Egyptian exports, followed by Italy, with a trade volume of $2.89bn, of which $1.5bn was imports and $1.38bn exports, according to the CBE.
The CBE pointed out that Saudi Arabia ranked fifth in terms of the most important trading partners of Egypt, with a trade volume of $2.7bn, of which $1.9bn was imports and $745m exports.
In addition, trade exchange between Egypt and Germany during the first nine months of the current fiscal year reached about $2.68bn, of which $2.1bn were imports and $579.4m were exports, while the volume of trade with the United Kingdom was $2.3bn, including $1.4bn of imports to Egypt and $941.6m of exports.
Moreover, trade exchange between Egypt and Turkey amounted to $2.15bn, of which $1.358bn was imports and $365.9m exports, while the trade between Egypt and Switzerland reached $2.132bn, of which $1.47bn were imported goods and $654m exports.
In tenth was Russia, with trade worth $2.016bn, of which $1.916bn was imports to Egypt versus $100.1m of exports, followed by India, with a trade volume of $1.6bn, of which $1.06bn was imports and $610.3m exports.
Finally, in the last rank among the 14 countries mentioned by the CBE, Qatar tailed the list with about $1.4685bn, of which $1.358bn was imports and $110.5m exports.
According to the CBE, there are other countries that were not mentioned in the report. The volume of trade between them and Egypt amounted to about $24.3812bn, with $18.5bn of imports and $5.881bn of exports.
