Lenovo, through its subsidiary, Motorola, and Sky Distribution announced a strategic collaboration to distribute Motorola smartphones in Egypt through Sky Distribution’s extensive online/offline network across Egypt.

Through this partnership, Egyptian consumers will have wider access to Motorola smartphones and also capitalise on Sky Distribution’s network to ensure a premium after-sales service. Motorola smartphone users will be able to purchase devices from any of the Sky Distribution stores across Egypt’s governorates, or even order them online. The new partnership will help further leverage Motorola’s existing channels of distribution nationwide and increase the brand’s accessibility with Egyptian consumers.

According to a recent report by Egypt’s Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), 88.1% of 25,000 surveyed Egyptian families own mobile phones. The report also indicated that an average of 22.1% of Egyptian families only own smartphones, offering a great opportunity for Motorola devices to penetrate in this emerging market and cater to the different needs of local consumers.

Sharay Shams, General Manager of Mobile Business Group, Lenovo Middle East & Turkey, said that since the re-launch of the Motorola brand in Egypt, they have witnessed a growing demand for their smartphones. “Through strategic partnerships with premium distributors, we are committed to provide consumers with better access to our devices, along with an exceptional after-sales service experience,” he added.
