OPPO was globally registered in 2001, and OPPO China was established in 2004. Following its establishment, OPPO manufactured MP3 and MP4 players in 2005 and 2006.
In 2008, OPPO introduced its first feature phone through “A103 Smile face”. In 2009, the brand introduced the Blu-ray player in US and Europe. Entering the smartphone era, OPPO launched its first smartphone “Find” in 2011. This was followed by the “Finder & Find 3” in 2012 and the “Find 5, N1, ColorOS” in 2013. In 2014, the “N3” was launched, which was the first mobile ever with a motorised rotating camera with 206°of rotation. The company then launched the “R7 & R7 Plus” in 2015, “R9 series” and “F1 series” in 2016, and “F3 series” and “R11 series” in 2017.
Enlarging its footprint worldwide, OPPO operates in a total of 27 markets across the globe, as follows: 10 markets in Southeast Asia, 6 in South and Central Asia, 4 in Africa, 5 in the Middle East, and 2 in Oceania.
In 2016, OPPO was ranked the fourth smartphone brand globally with a market share increase of 132.9%, according to IDC Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker. In 2016, OPPO topped the Chinese smartphone market with a 122.2% increase, according to IDC.
