Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on Egyptian citizens who intend to travel to a country which is part of the Schengen region to make sure that their entry to the European Union [EU] is through the country which issued the visa from its embassy in Cairo, according to a statement by the Ministry on Tuesday.
The consular sector of the ministry has noticed several cases of Egyptians holding Schengen visas from European countries that are not their main destination, the deputy of the foreign minister for consular affairs and Egyptians abroad, Khaled Rizk said.
Rizq pointed out that the ministry has repeatedly received notes from Egyptian citizens saying that travel agencies told them that they can provide them with Schengen visas quickly from any embassy of the EU with no need to get the visa from the country of destination.
The Ministry of Interior called on Egyptian citizens intending to travel to any Schengen county to be aware of the rules of the region.
