Air traffic rose in July by 0.85% compared to the same month last year.
The total number of passengers in all Egyptian airports reached 2.3 million passengers, compared to 2.1 million, while the number of aircrafts across all airports in Egypt reached 25,800 up from 25,600 in July 2016—marking an increase of 0.85%.
A source at the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation said that the air traffic at Cairo International Airport had dropped at an average rate of 7.5% in July, while the number of passengers there reached 1.1 million passengers compared to 1.2 million.
He pointed out that the movement of aircraft fell by 8.1% to 13,400 aircrafts compared to 14,600 in the same month last year.
At Sharm el-Sheikh airport, passenger traffic increased 49% y-o-y in July.
The number of passengers reached 245,000 up from 165,000, while the number of passengers reached 2,400 aircrafts compared to 1,900—up by 27.6%.
Hurghada International Airport witnessed a significant increase in the number of passengers, recording 431,000 passengers versus 230,000, up by 87.4%. Aircraft traffic at Hurghada airport recorded 3,300 planes, compared to 2,000 only in the same month last year.
At Luxor airport, the number of passengers reached 29,600, down by 15% from the same month last year. The number of aircrafts reached 501 planes, down by 10.4%.
At Aswan International Airport, passenger traffic increased by 29.6% to register 26,600 passengers, compared to 20,400 in the same month last year, while aircrafts traffic reached 538 planes, compared to 540 planes last year, down by 0.6%.
