“Foreign trade revamping, towards a qualitative transformation of the national economy” conference to be held on October 30 its second annual session in Cairo. The conference will be under the auspices of the ministry of trade and industry and the prime minister engineer Sherif Ismail.

The conference aims to continue what it started last year in its first review of the reality of the mechanisms of Egypt’s foreign trade, its challenges, and constraints, in order to achieve a leap in the volume of foreign trade revenues to increase the GDP.

Moreover, the conference will review the government performance in removing the obstacles facing the Egyptian foreign trade during the fiscal year(FY) 2016/2017, correcting the deficit in the balance of trade, such as a big pressure on the foreign exchange reserve assets of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), and the implications of the currency flotation on the trade exchange system. The most important topic to be addressed is the formulation of a national strategy for the development of exports.

Participation of decision-making circles is expected, said Mohammad Baraka, general coordinator of the conference.  Adding that he coordinated with a number parliament members to participate and its meetings.

Ministries of industry, investment, and planning will participate in the current session of the conference, in addition to CBE, business organizations, trade unions, chambers of commerce, banks and major companies in the sectors of export and import, as well as to representatives of the press and information.
