Beit El-Kady to be restored

Aiming to take visitors back in time when the glorious Medieval Cairo was a part of a luxurious, classy Egypt. Ministry of Antiquities announced that the restoration project of Beit El-Kady in Al-Gamalia area in Medieval Cairo, is to start soon.

The Permanent Committee of Islamic and Coptic Antiquities have approved and selected one of the restoration projects proposed and submitted by the Egyptian Consulting Office, which is preparing the scientific studies, said Mohamed Abedl Aziz, General Director of Historic Cairo Rehabilitation Project.

Abdel Aziz continues saying, the project aims to develop El Kady House and the archaeological buildings around it.

The project will also include the rehabilitation of the “Mamay Al-Sifi” seat after completion of its restoration in an attempt to convert its arcades into a visitors centre and tickets booth while the building itself would be a rest-house for visitors, he added.

In the void area in front of the building a wooden mobile stage shall be established where a Sound and Light Show about the masterpieces of Islamic art shall take place.
