The Ministry of Interior released 717 prisoners on Friday, honouring the 44th anniversary of the October War victory in 1973.
This comes within the framework of the Ministry of Interior’s keenness to uphold the values of human rights and the application of penal policy in its modern approach and provide various aspects of care for guests, especially in communicating with their families.
A few days ago, the ministry granted prisoners an exceptional visit from their families, which will not be counted from the total number of visits for the month of October.
The ministry grants pardons to prisoners in a regular manner before major religious and national occasions.
In early September, the ministry pardoned 211 prisoners in celebration of the Islamic holiday of Eid Al-Adha. The decision comes in accordance with presidential decree No. 280 for 2017.
