Swiss Hero holds board meeting in Egypt to learn about available investment opportunities

The board of directors of the Swiss company, Hero, have held their annual meeting in Cairo for the first time since starting the company’s activity in Egypt in 2002.

The meeting was attended by Arend Oetker, the owner and honorary president of the company, and all members of the board of directors which is keen on moving the location of its annual meetings between countries Hero is in across the globe in order to get introduced to the available opportunities in markets.

Choosing Egypt this year is in celebration of the new expansions of the company’s factory in Qalyubia.

The meeting included looking into the opportunities to expand the activity of the company in Egypt in light of the new legislations and investment incentives, in addition to discussing the chances to develop and increase the business volume of Hero in the Middle East and Africa, which is located in Cairo.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the members of the directors board have looked at the new expansions in the factory for jam, honey and juice production which uses the latest technology in order to ensure the quality of the company’s products and the safety of the manufacturing process.

Hero invests more than $40m in Egypt, and exports more than 35% of its production abroad. It is considered one of the largest three manufacturers of fruits in the Middle East. It accounts for 55% of the jam market in Egypt.

The factory also provides 850 jobs directly and indirectly and aims to achieve EGP 900m sales this year.

Hero exports its products to a number of countries in Africa, the Gulf, Japan in addition the US lately.
