WYF speakers addresses women, press issues in third day

On the third day of the World Youth Forum (WYF), discussion sessions about the role of freedom of press and promoting women role in society took place in attendance of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

During women session, Al-Sisi delivered messages to the Egyptian in which he asserted that political will alone not enough to empower women, as that there should be attempts to change the culture of the community through cultural and religious platforms.

The president said that the woman has played a vital role in confronting terrorism, and that the sate will seek to implement rehabilitation programs to support women’s access to able to lead decision-making positions.

Regarding press session, it was attended by Stephen Princard, reader’s editor for the British Observer, Souad Al-Tayeb, director of Radio Monte Carlo, Albert Shafiq, the president of Extra News and Ezzat Ibrahim, editor-in-chief of Al-Ahram weekly.

During the session, the speakers agreed on the importance of offering sufficient information to the recipient whether he was a reader or a viewer or a listener, and stressed that the profession still needs to further development in form and content, and that the media outlets has to make greater efforts to restore confidence in it again.

Arab and foreign leaders and representatives have arrived on Saturday to Sharm El-Sheikh to attend the forum, which is set to last till 10 November. It includes 64 sessions, and 222 speakers representing 46 countries.

The forum aims  exchanging expertise in different fields, through discussing topics of youth global issues, sustainable development, technology, entrepreneurship, civilisations and culture, creating future leaders, and the Model United Nations (MUN).
