Egyptian swimmer Farida Osman has won the award for “Best Athlete in Africa 2017” at the World Athletics Awards ceremony on the sidelines of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) in Prague, Czech Republic.
“2017 has been a great year for me—especially the historic moment of winning Egypt’s first-ever medal at the FINA World Championships,” said Osman, according to the press release.
Osman has achieved a unique global achievement after winning the bronze medal in the 50-metre butterfly during her participation in the World Swimming Championships, which took place in Hungary recently, to become the first Egyptian swimmer to do so.
