The Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture of the Embassy of India in Cairo organised the 15th edition of MACIC Roundtable, a monthly seminar series involving youth, academics, culture lovers, and civil society on issues of mutual interest to India and Egypt.
The primary focus of the roundtable was to discuss, analyse, and share the experiences of India and Egypt in the renewable energy sector. India’s experience in this sector has been growing day by day, and today India has the ability to achieve huge targets.
The discussion took place between Mohamed Khayat, executive chairperson of the New and Renewable Energy Authority at the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy; Moursi Hosni Abu Bieh, professor in the Photo Chemistry Department at the Egyptian National Research Centre; and Ashish Khanna, programme leader for Sustainable Development (Egypt, Yemen, and Djibouti).
Renewable energy provides solutions to both of these problems, namely increased supply and also clean energy.
The roundtable explored areas of interest, including policy framework in both countries, renewable energy, new guidelines for investment in the renewable energy sector, and reforms required to achieve the targets in the renewable energy sector.
