The number of tourists who visited Egypt reached 732,700 in September, compared to 819,600 who came in August, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS).
CAPMAS noted that the number of tourists who visited Egypt during the period from September 2016 until the same month of 2017 revealed an increase in the number of tourists visiting the country by 259,700.
The number of tourists coming from all over the world in the first half of the current year also increased by 52.4% compared to last year. The number of tourists reached 3.5607 million during the first half of 2017, while it reached 2.3361 during the same period of 2016.
Germany topped the countries sending tourists in July, with 108,916 tourists, followed by Saudi Arabia with 95,565, then the Czech Republic with 31,769, and Libya with 31,298.
The number of tourists coming from the US reached 25,341.
Western Europe was the region that sent the most tourists, at 35.8%, with Germany ranking first, followed by the United Kingdom, then Italy.
Germany, Israel, and Italy were the countries that sent the most tourists in August, while Saudi Arabia sent 99,851 tourists, Libya 32,603 tourists, and Sudan 30,146, the three countries topping the list among Middle Eastern tourists.
The Ukraine, the Czech Republic, and Poland had the highest number of tourists from Eastern Europe who visited Egypt in August, estimated at 37,193 tourists from Ukraine, 30,264 tourists form the Czech Republic, and 21,617 tourists from Poland.
The number of tourists coming from the USA in August was 19,960.
