Minster of Culture Helmy Namnam awarded distinguished superstars Madeha Yousry and Nadia Lotfy with honourary degrees on Friday, for their enriching participation in Arab cinema, according to the Ministry of Culture’s official Facebook page.
The award was part of the honouring ceremony, organised by the Academy of Arts, to accredit both artists for their life-long career achievements.
Yousry, whose health has been unstable for a while, attended sitting in a wheel chair. She expressed her happiness and appreciation for the award, saying “this appreciation raised my spirit so that I can get up and run now.”
Yousry took part in more than 90 films and was chosen as one of the most beautiful 40 women worldwide
The ceremony was attended by several iconic stars, many of whom are personal friends of Yousry and Lotfy, including Samir Sabry, Mervat Amin, and Elham Shahin.
For her part, Lotfy expressed her gratitude for such an award.
Lotfy participated in more than 75 films, and the honourary degree was given to her “appreciating her long-life career.”
