Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr inaugurated the Egyptian-Japanese business and investment forum in the presence of 150 Japanese investors, on the second day of Nasr’s visit to Tokyo, to promote investment in Egypt.
Moreover, Nasr said that there are currently 16 investment zones in Egypt, specialised in various fields.
Furthermore, the minister pointed out that in recent times, the board of directors of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) approved the establishment of three new investment zones within the framework of the ministry’s plan.
In this context, she explained that the ministry has created a plan to establish an investment zone in each governorate in Egypt.
Meanwhile, “[the] Egyptian Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation will launch the Egyptian investment map which will include all investment opportunities in all fields, such as housing, industry, and telecommunications,” Nasr added.
Moreover, the minister called on the Japanese companies working in the field of entrepreneurship to cooperate with the ministry through the “Your Idea, Your Company” initiative to support startup companies.
The ministry also launched the “establish yourself” initiative through the ministry and GAFI’s websites, without having to go to an investor service centre.
In addition, the investor service centre allows communicating with investors and responding to their inquiries via a hotline.
On the other hand, Nasr discussed with the Governor of Japan Bank for International Cooperation Akira Kondoh increasing the bank’s financing for Japanese companies investing in the private sector in Egypt and benefiting from Japanese experience in the establishment of free zones in the framework of the ministry’s plan to expand the establishments of new free zones.
