The overall balance of payments (BoP) surplus of banks operating in the Egyptian market amounted to EGP 4.688tn at the end of September 2017, compared to EGP 4.586tn at the end of August 2017, an increase of EGP 101.9bn, according to the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).
Banks increased their capital by EGP 9.4bn in September, recording EGP 141.3bn against EGP 131.86bn by the end of August, according to the CBE.
According to the CBE, reserves fell to EGP 174.1bn by the end of September, compared with EGP 181.84bn at the end of August, a decrease of EGP 7.7bn.
The amount of provisions set by banks to meet doubtful loans was raised to reach EGP 109.499bn by the end of September, against EGP 109.383bn by the end of August.
