Celebrating the 115th anniversary of the Egyptian Museum, the American University in Cairo (AUC) took part in the he Egyptian Heritage Exhibition, and opened a branch of its bookstore at the museum.

“AUC Press Bookstores regularly takes part in events and book fairs, but this is a unique and excellent initiative by the Ministry of Antiquities,” said Nigel-Fletcher Jones, director of AUC Press Bookstores. “Many visitors to Cairo are here on a short, almost whistle stop tour, so this may be one of a few rare moments when they are able to see the huge range of high quality books AUC Press has to offer.”
The new bookstore has a guide to the Egyptian Museum in different languages, as well as a collection of books about ancient Egyptians and the history of the pharaohs and some books on Egyptian culture, including crafts and cookery.

The bookstore opened its doors to visitors as a part of the exhibition which celebrates 115 years since the Egyptian Museum was first opened. However, it is planned to permanently exist as part of the museum even after the exhibition ends in February.
