The competition between smartphone companies in Egypt is strong. While Samsung dominated the largest share of market sales in the past years without real competition, the past two years witnessed the entry of new competitors to the arena. Samsung took a strong hit that affected its market share, as it struggles to maintain its current 42% market share.
The past two years witnessed the entry of several Chinese brands to the smartphone sector to join the competition for Egyptian customers. Currently, there are at least 15 brands in Egypt, all of which are doing their best to obtain a larger slice of the cake, especially with 4G services in full swing.
The current and next year are expected to see an increase in competition among smartphone brands, with statistics showing that the number of smartphone users is likely to reach over 27 million in Egypt, making the market even more attractive to companies.
In addition, companies continue to compete with one another to acquire larger market shares, while one company tightly holds nearly half of the market’s sales.
