One of Africa’s most influential women in business, government is Yomna El Sheridy

Yomna El Sheridy is the founder and managing director of Special Food Industry International Co,  manufacturer and exporter of table olives, pickled vegetables, and sun-dried tomatoes.

She has over 20 years of experience in food processing and has worked in the export and marketing of food products at a global level. El Sheridy has worked for such major global brands as Procter & Gamble, Mead Johnson, Bristol Myers, and Gerber Baby Food.

She is also the president of Business Women of Egypt 21.

El Sheridy is also responsible for the establishment of the Annual Conference for Women for Success, and founded the Arab Business Women’s Council of the Arab League in March 1999.

She is also the co-chairperson of Career Women, an establishment at the American Chamber of Commerce, and has years of experience in NGO- and SME-support activities.

She is often recommended to speak in Europe and Arab nations about SMEs and the empowerment of businesswomen.

El Sheridy holds a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences from the University of Alexandria, as well as a master’s degree in pharmaceutical socio-economics from the University of Iowa in the US.

She has received many honourary titles and awards, including an award of acknowledgment for success from the German Chamber of Commerce; one for long-standing achievement from the American Chamber of Commerce; women who can move mountains award from United Success International; and the Women of Achievement award from Cairo Governorate.

She has also received an award for outstanding achievement from the Egyptian Association for Mother and Child Survival, and has been labelled one of Africa’s most influential women in business and government.
