Magdy Saber, chairperson of Cairo Opera House announced that the opera will follow, for the first time, a new tradition, which is holding three consecutive concerts at the opera house’s grand theatre as part of a celebration titled Valentine’s Day Festival.
According to the schedule, on Tuesday at 8:00 pm, the singer Medhat Saleh will sing a number of his songs in addition to some Arabic music compositions, with the participation of the famous pianist Amr Selim and accompanied by Abdel Halim Noireh Ensemble for Arab Music, led by maestro Salah Ghbashi.
Meanwhile, Walid Haydar, Mai Hassan, Mohamed Hassan, and Rabab Mutawa will also sing some songs, opening for Medhat Saleh’s concert.
Furthermore, on Wednesday, Hany Shaker will have a concert, in which he will sing his songs accompanied by a band led by maestro Ibrahim Al-Moji.
Wednesday will also witness the celebration of Laila Murad’s centenary, where Hasna, Sabreen Al-Nujaili, and Yasser Solieman will sing some of her songs.
The festival will end on Thursday, when Ali El Hagar will perform a concert, accompanied by the National Arab Music Ensemble, led by maestro Mostafa Helmy, preceded by an entertainment prelude that includes the music of Rabia Al Akher series for Ammar Al Shurai and a music prelude by Ashraf Waleed, Iman Abdel Ghani, and Emad Ashour, who plays the cello.
Cairo Opera House is the main performing arts venue in Egypt in general, and in Cairo in particular, and is home to most of Egypt’s finest musical groups.
Valentine’s day is known as Saint Valentine’s Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine and is a tradition for couples to celebrate their love on 14 February of every year.
