Shoukry heads to Madrid to discuss bilateral relations

Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry headed to the capital of Spain, Madrid, on Tuesday

on a two-day visit to boost bilateral relations.

Shoukry is scheduled to meet Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs Alfonso Maria Dastis, the Spanish minister of defence, the presidents of the House of Representatives and Senate, as well as the secretary general of the World Tourism Organisation.

Shoukry’s meeting with Spanish officials will address various areas of bilateral cooperation, inlcuding political, economic, and commercial, especially regarding the volume of trade exchange between the two countries, which reached about $2bn in 2017, as well as Spanish investments in Egypt in a number of sectors, including energy.

Afterwards, the minister will head to Germany to participate in anti-terrorism discussion session of the Munich Security Conference.

The theme of Munich Conference, which takes place from 15 to 18 February 2018, for 2pq8 focuses on the future of the European Union as an international actor.

The conference is held annually in February to address security issues and to debate and analyse the main security challenges in the present and the future with leaders and diplomats from around the world.

It will be held in the presence of 600 guests from all over the globe, as more than 20 leaders, 40 foreign ministers, and 40 defence ministers are expected to attend the security conference in Munich this year, according to a statement issued by the German Foreign Ministry.
