Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Kabil announced that the board of directors of the Export Development Authority has agreed for the authority to arrange for Egypt’s participation at the first China International Import Expo (CIIE), scheduled to be held next November.
Moreover, they agreed for the Export Development Authority to also arrange Egyptian participation at the international Dubai Expo 2020, as well as Egypt hosting for the first time the Pan African Trade Conference, scheduled to be held in Cairo next December.
This came during the minister’s meeting with the board of directors of the Export Development Authority.
Kabil also announced that the authority is currently working to achieve the strategic objectives of the development and promotion of exports, which include the sustainable growth of Egyptian exports and the expansion of the exporters base to include small and medium enterprises(SMEs), as well as simplifying procedures, creating a better business environment for exporters, and encouraging shifting towards higher value added exports.
The meeting, headed by the minister, reviewed the export development strategy and the authority’s work plan during the coming period until the end of the fiscal year (FY) 2017/2018.
In this context, the minister said that the meeting reviewed the possibility of signing a number of cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding between the Export Development Authority and various concerned bodies related to hosting the Pan African Trade Conference.
The minister pointed out that the board of directors also approved the proposed budget for the Export Development Authority for the new FY 2018/2019.
