South Cairo Electricity Distribution company to transform overhead lines to ground cables this year

The South Cairo Electricity Distribution Company will finish transforming its overhead electric lines into ground cable throughout this year. The implementation has reached 88% thus far.

Hossam Afifi, head of the South Cairo Electricity Distribution Company, said that there are some objections from the residents of the area that may impact the implementation. Agreements are made with these residents in order to avoid conflict with them, or they are provided with compensation through the Egyptian Electricity Regulation Authority or the Consumer Protection Agency.

Afifi explained that a replacement and renewal plan will be completed before the summer, as nearly 295 transformers were replaced, in addition to 100 distribution booths, and 254 electricity poles. Also, about 133,800 km of medium-voltage overhead lines were established, alongside 533,710 km of cables.

Regarding low-voltage networks, about 269,470km of overhead lines were established, alongside 205,900 km of cables, and 951 low-voltage boxes.

Afifi added that land cables of 27,700 metres in the north countryside area of Giza 1 were transformed, in addition to 41,650 metres in the North countryside of Giza 2, as well as 35,590 metres in the south countryside of Giza, and 9,531 metres in the central countryside of Giza, with the total length of these cables reaching 114,471 metres.

The scope of the work of South Cairo Electricity Distribution Company includes the areas of Kirdasa, Mansouria, El Wahat, Oasim, Wourdan, Manshaeit El Qanatir, El Saff, El Ayat, Atfih, Abo El Namras, El Hawamdia, and El-Badrashin.

Afifi pointed out that instructions were given to all workers of the company to pay attention to the quality offered to customers to ensure that the work is completed in the best possible state.
