The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) decided to extend its working hours at 65 of its branches until 5:00 pm to provide electronic tax payment services in the periods between 25 and 29 March 2018 and from 22 to 30 April, according to Yehia Aboul Fotouh, chairperson of the bank.

Aboul Fotouh explained that this move by the NBE comes within the framework of the bank’s keenness to achieve a successful tax season with the minimum level of congestion, including at branches of the Egyptian Tax Authority, to maximise tax revenues.

He added that he took into consideration the selection of the branches to cover all geographical regions of the republic and their proximity to the relevant tax authorities.

According to Aboul Fotouh, this is a confirmation of the role played by the NBE in the service of the national economy, and in support of the Egyptian Tax Authority to collect its dues during the peak periods of filing tax returns in March and April each year. This will be done, he said, through the electronic collection system that allows the collection of the state’s revenues in a facilitative and rapid manner to help individual financiers or corporate clients, along with non-customers of the bank.
