99% of construction work on production units at Damietta’s furniture city complete: Kabil

Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Kabil announced that the construction work at the new furniture city in Damietta is proceeding according to the ministry’s plan and timetable, revealing that 99% of the construction work on 1,400 units has been completed.

This came during the meeting held by the minister to follow up on the implementation plan for the new furniture city project in Damietta.

Kabil pointed out that the ministry is working now on the completion of all utilities, including water, electricity, and roads.

The minister said that the new furniture city in Damietta reflects the Sustainable Development Strategy: Egypt Vision 2030 and keeps pace with the Egyptian government’s directives during the current phase.

The project aims at developing the furniture industry by using modern technology with EGP 5bn in capital.

For his part, Kabil pointed out that the Damietta furniture project is located on an area of 331 feddans and contributes to providing direct and indirect job opportunities, which are expected to exceed 100,000 jobs.

He stressed that the new city is a successful model regarding cooperation between the government and the private sector.
