Communication minister discusses investment opportunities in IT sector

The Fifth Annual Conference of the General Division of Digital Economy and Technology will begin today under the title Tech Invest 2, in the presence of Yasser El-Kady, minister of communications and information technology.

Khalil Hassan Khalil, a member of the board of directors of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC) and head of its general division on the digital economy, said that the sessions will be attended by approximately 800 experts and decision-makers.

The sessions will discuss a number of important topics. The first session will deal with digital transformation, investment opportunities, and the role of national companies. The session will be chaired by El-Kady.

Khalil added that the second session will discuss digital payments and their role in developing and digitising the Egyptian commerce and trade system to achieve financial inclusion.

The third session will also address the challenges and opportunities of investment in the field of electronics manufacturing, in which Hazem El Tahawy, managing director at Mentor Graphics Egypt, will speak, as well as Hossam Osman, vice president at the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA); Hesham El Deeb, president at Electronic Research Institute; Medhat Nafei, CEO at Holding Company for Mineral Industries; Abdel Mohsen Abdel Sadek Ismail, chairperson at AOI Electronics; Ayman El Gohary, general manager at Cisco for Egypt and Libya; and Hady Barakaty, Samsung Egypt’s head of manufacturing.

The fourth session will be held under the title “mechanisms for the arrival of Egyptian companies to the world”, in which Khaled Ibrahim, head of TBC will speak, along with Alaa El Kheshen, head of ECO Egypt; Minas Ibrahim, chairperson of Egy Jet; Hani Elgebaly, founder and CEO at AvidBeam Technologies Inc; and Ahmed El-Sobky, vice president for IT markets development at ITIDA.
