Preparatory meetings for joint Egyptian-Saudi ministerial committee kick off in Riyadh

The preparatory meetings for the 16th session of the Egyptian-Saudi ministerial committee kicked off on Tuesday in Riyadh, according to the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

The ministry said that the joint committee aims to enhance cooperation in various fields of cooperation, especially the trade, industrial, economic, and cultural fields.

The statement noted that Egypt’s Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Kabil will head the Egyptian delegation in the committee and Minister of Commerce and Investment Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasabi will head the Saudi delegation.

The head of the trade agreements and foreign trade sector of the Ministry of Trade and Industry and head of the Egyptian delegation during the preparatory meetings, Saeed Abdullah, said that the committee will address a large number of common interest issues between the two countries, including promotion of trade and exhibitions, and consumer protection. It will also discuss industrial and customs cooperation.

A series of meetings will be organised between the Egyptian community in the kingdom and Syrian businesspersons in Saudi Arabia to discuss investment opportunities in Egypt on the sidelines of the meeting.

Abdullah pointed out that the committee will also discuss the issues of cooperation in the field of agricultural and veterinary quarantine, fisheries, and cooperation in the field of health, as well as the fields of transport, investment, statistics, security, oil, and mineral fields. It will also discuss cooperation on planning, air transport, water resources, electricity, energy, and communications.
