The 2017/18 English Premier League (EPL) season came to an end on Sunday, with many long-standing records broken in the world’s most exciting football competition. Manchester City was crowned champion for the fifth time in its history, after the team reached the 100-point mark, surpassing runner-up Manchester United by 19 points.
Pep Guardiola’s team won the last game of the season at Southampton 1-0 on Sunday, to be the first English team to score 106 goals in a Premier League season.
This season also saw the end of Arsene Wenger’s reign at Arsenal, after 22 years of coaching the Gunners, witnessing many achievements and glorious moments.
The bright moment for all Egyptians was when Liverpool’s star Mohamed Salah claimed the EPL Golden Boot with a record of 32 goals.
Salah broke the Premier League’s record for goals scored in a 38-game season. The Egyptian forward scored the opening goal in the Reds’ 4-0 victory over Brighton during the Sunday game at Anfield. He became the first African to breach the 30-goal mark in a single campaign, and the only man to score against 17 different teams throughout the competition.
