More than 13 Palestinians were lightly injured in clashes that erupted on Monday after Israeli forces raided Al-Am’ari camp in Ramallah, according to the Palestine Health Ministry.
Israeli troops raided the camp to allegedly search for a person suspected of killing a 20-year-old solider belonging to the Israeli military’s elite special forces Duvdevan Unit, who died on Saturday of injuries sustained during a raid on the same camp several days ago.
Israel’s army said that the young solider was injured when Palestinians dropped a heavy stone from a building in the camp, hitting the soldier’s head, when they were raiding the camp allegedly in search of suspects “committing attacks against Israelis.”
Earlier in May, at least 60 Palestinians were killed and hundreds injured by Israeli forces, as thousands of Palestinians were protesting against moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, the holy city they see as the capital of their future independent state, as well as marking the 70th anniversary of Nakba Day.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian National Authority demanded an immediate investigation into what it called “grave crimes” it alleges Israel committed against Palestinians, especially its settlements policies and the recent bloodshed in Gaza.
