The Commercial International Bank (CIB) released a press statement on Thursday indicating that they have received a complaint from a client regarding a discrepancy in his account statement, which is currently under investigation.
Reports emerged on social media, which can not yet be confirmed, that the alleged discrepancy was a result of an embezzlement.
According to the statement, CIB will update investors via the stock exchange and regulatory officials at the Central Bank of Egypt as developments warrant.
The bank emphasised that there number one priority is and will remain the trust of its customers of all sizes, from individual retail clients to the largest corporations.
