EETC signs contract worth EGP 91m with Sieyuan for rehabilitation of Esna substation

The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) signed a rehabilitation project contract for the Esna substation with South Korean Sieyuan and Mega alliance at a cost of EGP 91m.

Gamal Abdel Rahim, chairperson of the EETC, said that the alliance will take over the rehabilitation of the Esna substation to become 66/11KV, 2X40 MVA over 12 months, without the supply of main transformers.

He added that the EETC also signed a contract with El Nasr Transformers and Electrical Products Company (ELMACO) for the supply and supervision of the installation of 51 transformers (66/11 kV, 40 MVA).

Abdel Rahim said that the implementation will last for five months from the date of signing the contract at an investment cost of EGP 355m, funded by electricity regions’ credits (Suez Canal, Nile Delta, Alexandria and West Delta, Upper Egypt, and Central Egypt) for about 45 transformers, while six other transformers will be financed by the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA).

He pointed out that the EETC’s plan for strengthening electricity transmission networks includes the implementation of new lines, as follow:

  • Beni Suef – Beni Suef industrial city line with a length of 18 km (implementation rate of 89%)
  • Arab Borrolos – Abu Almtamir line with a length of 135 km (implementation rate of 90%)
  • Beni Suef – East Assiut line with a length of 194 km reached (implementation rate of 99%)
  • Samannoud – East Benha line with a length of 80 km (implementation rate of 97%)
  • New Administrative Capital – Zahraa El Maadi line with a length of 30 km (implementation rate of 50%)
  • East Qena – Nag Hammadi line with a length of 70 km (implementation rate of 79%)
    East Qena – East Sohag line with a length of 176 km (implementation rate of 50%)
  • Etai El Baroud – Kafr El Zayyat line with a length of 28 km (implementation rate of 63%)
  • Wadi Al Natroun – 6th of October line with a length of 40 km (implementation rate of 9%)
  • 6th of October – Maghagha line with a length of 163 km (implementation rate of 3%)
  • Abu-Matamir – Wadi Al-Natroun line with a length of 135 km (implementation rate of 12%)
  • East Sohag – East Assiut line with a length of 180 km (implementation rate of 21%)
