The Ministry of Electricity is preparing to launch new and renewable energy projects in cooperation with the private sector, using the system of bids, with a capacity of 600 MW.
Ehab Ismail, the head of the technical affairs department within the NREA, said that the projects will be launched in several phases. Each phase would be with a capacity ranging from 100 MW to 150 MW by the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC), in coordination with the NREA to provide lands to implement the projects on.
He added that the NREA owns lands east and west of the Nile, as well as in Zafaraan and the Gulf of Suez. These lands are sufficient for solar and wind energy projects with capacities up to 20,000 MW.
