Minister of Interior Mahmoud Tawfik promoted on Monday 51 generals in a ministry reshuffle, the ministry said in a Monday statement.

The restructuring included deputy ministers and security chiefs all over the country. Top appointments included officials in Giza, Upper Egypt, Cairo, Aswan, Minya, Beheira, Red Sea, Port Said, Menoufiya, Qena, South Sinai, and Sohag.

Since he took office in June, the recently appointed Tawfik has praised the security system, the effectiveness of its performance, and what has been achieved throughout the past years, urging police troops to maintain a state of readiness to protect the country from the path experienced by several states in the region that suffered from terrorism.

Tawfik was appointed earlier this month during a cabinet reshuffle following the start of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s second presidential term.
