The Egyptian cabinet has released a report on Monday documenting aid released to Sinai residents during the latest military operations during the months of June and May.
The extensive armed operation dubbed “Sinai 2018” has started in February.
The report also documented financial compensation issued to families, which were displaced due to the military operations, with an amount of around EGP 72m for May 2018.
Moreover, the report said that concerning health care, three visits took place to patients houses, while 10 medical caravans were directed to Sinai civilians.
It added that six blankets and 10 bed covers were issued, while nine wheelchairs were given to patients. It also mentioned that part of the services, which were presented to the civilians, with the cooperation of the police, army, the Ministry of Supply, included making essential food goods, dairy products, meat, poultry, vegetables, fruits, and cooking oil available to the public.
The government also allowed gas stations to work hence allowing taxis and public transportation to operate.

Last May, Human Rights Watch claimed that “the Egyptian army has vastly expanded widespread destruction of homes, commercial buildings, and farms in the North Sinai governorate since February.” It added that its recent report is based on remote interviews with witnesses in the governorate.
However, the Egyptian military spokesperson Tamer El-Refaie denounced the claims, noting that the HRW report was based on unreliable sources.
