An agreement took place between Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and his Vietnamese counterpart, by signing a memorandum of understanding in the fields of foreign policy, industry, trade, maritime trade, encouraging investment, and in the sectors of gas, fuel, agriculture, and land reclamation, on the side-lines of Al-Sisi’s according to the statement.

Last September, the two presidents witnessed the signing of two programmes of cooperation in tourism during the intervals 2017-19, and 2017-21.

Boosting bilateral relations in the fields of maritime transportation, shipbuilding, agriculture, and information technology was discussed in the meeting between both leaders, as well as developing public communication between people in both countries.

During his last visit, President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi called on investors and Vietnamese industrialists to invest in Egypt in all fields, citing a number of mega-projects with high returns and diversified investment opportunities, foremost of which is the development of the Suez Canal region. This includes the establishment of large industrial and logistical areas, which provides promising opportunities for Vietnamese companies wishing to benefit from Egypt’s strategic location as a production centre.

It marked the first visit of the Egyptian President to Vietnam, and  both leaders agreed to celebrate this year’s 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between both countries.
