The head of the Administrative Prosecution Authority Amani Al-Refaay, ordered on Monday the referral of three defendants to an urgent disciplinary trial for being accused of facilitating the seizure of nearly EGP 76m, the value of a deficit of 21,000 tonnes of flour.
The first two defendants are agricultural engineers, one of whom is the head of the sorting and receiving committee for the local supplies, the second is also a member of the committee, while the third is an inspector at the Directorate of Supply in Qalyoubia.
The Administrative Prosecution had received a report from the Supreme Public Funds’ Office accusing the defendants of allocating quantities of flour supplies more than those inserted in the official documents. The value of these quantities was fictitious and contravened the truth.
Investigations revealed that there was a deficit between the amounts of flour included in the documents and used quantities, which reached a total quantity of about 21,000 tonnes, thus significant differences in the prices of local wheat which are actually supplied.
The investigations also uncovered that the first defendant fabricated the signatures of the third violator on the reports of the counting and receipt papers of the quantities of the supplies. Accordingly, the prosecution sent the defendants to an urgent trial.
