The Giza Criminal Court sentenced four people to 14 years in prison on Wednesday for being accused of killing Shiite members.
This came during the retrial of a case over the killing of a prominent Shiite leader and three other members of the shrinking Egyptian Shiite Muslim community in June 2013.
The prosecution accused the defendants of charges of premeditated murder as they killed Hassan Muhammad Shehata, a member of the Egyptian Shiite Community and his three sons.
In June 2013, the defendants who are Salafist Sheikhs headed to the house of the four members holding white weapons, forcing them to get out of their house and beat them to death.
The Shiite residences were in the small village of Zawyat Abu Musalam in Giza governorate.
In 2015 the defendants were originally 23, but eight were acquitted and the remaining received 14 years prison sentences in absentia.
