Emergency state declared in Aswan after dust storm hits city

A state of emergency has been declared in Aswan after a dust storm hit the governate on Tuesday, as bad weather is expected to last during the upcoming hours.

Governate officials urged city residents to be more cautious while driving on highways and even feeder roads. The main desert road connecting Luxor with Aswan and Abu Simbel tourist road was also closed down.

Meanwhile, the air and river traffic was temporarily halted until weather conditions improved.

Aswan hospitals and public clinics are on high alert to receive residents affected by the bad weather.
