First stage of training of elimination of virus C disease initiative kicks off

Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed launched on Tuesday the first training course for the Presidential Initiative to Eliminate of virus C disease.

That training courses will be prepared for the initiators of the presidential initiative before the start of each stage.

The current training will last for five days for 800 trainees of medical staff and 25 volunteers from Egyptian universities. Each trainee will train a working group on the use of virus C reagents, disease testing, communication skills and ways of dealing with infected citizens, and training on electronic entry on the survey programme.

The new initiative is scheduled to be launched in early October in nine governorates as an initial stage. The training is expected to take place at the national institute for the training of doctors located in Abbasiya.

The Ministry of Health is in the process of implementing the largest comprehensive health survey for the detection of the virus C for about 45 to 52 million citizens through 1304 areas across the nation, starting from age of 18 years.

The second phase of the comprehensive virus programme will be carried out in 11 governorates during the period from December 2018 to February 2019. These include the governorates of North Sinai, Red Sea, Beni Suef, Cairo, Ismailia, Suez, Kafr El Sheikh, Sohag, Assiut, and Luxor.

The Ministry of Health is keen to reduce the incidence of virus C to less than 2%. This project came as part of the state attempts to improve health condition in the country, which had suffered deterioration for long years.
