Egypt was selected to be the honouree guest at the 18th Amman International book fair, taking place from 26 September to 6 October. Ministry of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem met Jordanian minister Basma Al-Nasour to discuss the details of cultural cooperation between both countries.
Al-Nasour stated in a press release that having Egypt as the honouree guest of the book fair is an opportunity to discover and communicate Egyptian innovative writers, adding that the Egyptian culture has been playing a prominent role in enlightenment movement of the Middle East.
She added that Jordanians grew up reading Egyptian literature and art which was an umbrella to all forms of Arab art.
Agreeing with her, Ehab Bseiso, Palestinian minister of culture, also asserted that Egypt is the biggest supporter to Palestinians in the fields of arts and culture.
Egypt joins other 17 regional and international countries participating in the fair.
Abdel Dayem stated that Egypt and Jordan share a long history of communication, especially in the fields of literature and art. She also stated that Egypt participated in the fair with around 1000 different publications in several fields of art and science.
In total 300 publication houses taking part with their publications in the book fair.
