Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry announced that President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi is expected to visit Russia soon.
The minister explained that the visit will contribute to opening new horizons for cooperative relations between the two countries in all fields. He also added that preparations for the visit are underway to ensure the highest levels of success, but he did not mention specific dates.
Furthermore, Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mikhail Bogdanov said in media statement that Al-Sisi is expected to pay a visit to Moscow soon. Al-Sisi’s last visit to Russia took place in 2015, resulting in economic relations between Egypt and Russia to witness a remarkable development.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Cairo in 2017, and was successful in boosting bilateral relations between both countries. Over recent years, both countries have signed several agreements in different fields, including investment and the gas sectors.
On Friday, Al-Sisi returned to Egypt from New York, after concluding his participation in the 73rd round of UN General Assembly (UNGA), which was Al-Sisi’s fifth participation in the UNGA.
Prior to his return, the president participated in a major dialogue on the execution of the Paris Agreement,
and the 42nd meeting of the foreign ministers of the Group of 77, and China, which Egypt is chairing in 2018.
He further conducted bilateral talks with several leaders, including United States (US) President Donald Trump, and members from the World Bank Group, the American Chamber of Commerce, and senior representatives of leading US companies.
