Egypt pays great attention to the physically challenged, believes in their capabilities, potential, and the importance of providing them with appropriate training and rehabilitation services, as well as the adequate care and the equal opportunities they deserve, according to President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.
Al-Sisi’s remarks came during the first Arab Forum for special schools on Monday, where he stressed that the Egyptian Constitution has guaranteed the rights of persons with disabilities, ensured their proper representation in both local elections, as well as parliamentary elections. In terms of employment, the president explained that 5,000 job opportunities have been provided recently for the disabled in the state’s administrative system. “Under the Takaful pension initiative to be provided for persons with disability, for the first time, within the social protection programme framework, additionally the Ministry of Housing allocated 5% of housing units for persons with disabilities in the state’s social housing projects, in order to ensure equality, and the right to an adequate standard of living for persons with disability,” Al-Sisi said.
