Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shoukry, arrived in the Bahraini capital of Manama on Saturday on a two-day visit to participate in the 10th meeting of the joint committee.
The meeting, involving both countries’ foreign ministries, is expected to witness signing of several bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding in various fields, as well as discussing boosting coordination on regional issues of common interest.
A preparatory meeting will be held in the first day on the level of senior officials, and the ministerial meeting will be held on Sunday.
On the other hand, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo phoned Shoukry on Friday where they discussed advancing bilateral relations in the coming period.
Shoukry and Pompeo discussed preparations to hold a joint meeting between the foreign and defence ministries to strengthen bilateral relations in different fields.
The ministers also reviewed the regional developments, and agreed to intensify coordination in the face of challenges undermining stability in the Middle East.
