EAEA receives Dabaa nuclear plant’s documents to review them in January

Abdel Hamid al-Desouky, the deputy chairperson of the Nuclear Power Plants Authority (NPPA) said that preparing all the documents required for the Dabaa nuclear plant for electricity generation with a 4800MW capacity, in addition to sending them to the Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority (EAEA), will be finalised in January 2019.

He added that all the documents will be reviewed within 18 months. Construction work will not begin until all the necessary permits are obtained.

Furthermore, al-Desoukysaid that the nuclear energy plant will result in a major leap in the field of energy production in Egypt, and will ensure the existence of an energy mix that the ministry of electricity is looking to achieve over the upcoming period.

Moreover, he explained that Egypt has managed to obtain the best technology for a reasonable value and that the nuclear energy plant being implemented has the highest degree of nuclear safety.
